Day 330 Raw

It's not often that I get to meet up with a lot of my high school friends. Yes, I'm in contact with a variety of them through various forms of communication, but it's rare like a bleeding piece of meat for several of us to be together in the same place at the same time.

Speaking of raw meals, Mila sent out a mass invitation for a few friends to get together for dinner. Surprisingly, everyone (save for one friend who is currently living in another state) said yes. I really do mean that it's a rarity that all these people were able to convalesce to one spot at a given time, considering that all said people have jobs and responsibilities and obligations that would otherwise take up their times.

I head to the gym first, intent on having my fourth workout in a row before I pick up Mila and head out to join the others. In the middle of my workout, I realize that the Broncos vs. Dolphins game is on. Now, I'm not a particularly fan of any sport, although I will admit that I'm pretty bloodthirsty (Bailey insists that if I don't die in a hospital, it'll be at a game where I'll let my temper get the better of an argument between me and a very big, sweaty fan) and I enjoy rough-housing of any kind. That, added to the fact that I'm pre-disposed to being a Tim Tebow "fan," pretty much put a hitch on my plans for working out and picking up Mila.
By the time I  look up, it's the middle of the third quarter and Broncos are way down and there's no frickin way that this game's going to be remotely interesting to watch if Tebow spends too much time backing away from the offense instead of aiming for a wide receiver. The progress of the game can pretty much be explained with the following communication between me and Bailey as I switch up between watching the game and working on my quads:
Me: 2.16 to go can our boy do it??
Bailey: Yessss

(And after that out-of-nowhere touchdown)

Me: Omg that was great lol
Bailey: Ohhh man... here we go
Me: I'm the only person at my gym clapping at that td. LoL this game is gonna put me behind my dinner plans haha
Bailey: Hahaha... like dinner date??
Me: God no. My life isn't that interesting.

Of course, that touchtime brings the game into overtime and I'm left at the gym, sweaty and gross... and only an hour away from having to be ready to go out. Soo when that field goal came through, you bet your ass I hauled it to the showers and pretty'd myself up before running out the front door.

Turns out, I didn't need to haul ass since Mila was running behind on paperwork. An hour late, we showed up just in time to meet everyone up. The dinner that follows is nice and short, heavily punctuated with our disbelief that we were able to gather in one place without any hitches. After dinner, we crowd together like a pack of social wolves by our cars and talk and talk and feel raindrops on our faces and talk some more. It's nice, I think, to be around people without anyone being influenced by a drop of alcohol, where the good mood is set by the people instead of the ambience of a sports bar.
