My first day on the job, completely by myself consisted of 13 hours on an assignment with four patients (traditionally, you get 3 but at least I had a care assistant) with literally a 15 minute break to chug down my antibiotics and cold wings before hoping back into the fryer known was my workplace. It was terrifying. I had considered picking up an extra shift just for shits and giggles, but I'm using my slow recovery as an excuse to not have to go back during the weekend and have to go through ulcer-inducing stress once more.
"Mentally drained" is an epic understatement.
